Mean Girls director, Mark Waters thought Rachel McAdams was too old to play as Cady Heron. Hence, they choose Lindsay Lohan. Rachel McAdams played as Regina George. Rachel was 25 at that time.

Waters told Variety, "I know Tina Fey and Lorne Michaels and Sherry Lansing watched a rough cut of Freaky Friday and they decided they wanted both me and Lindsay".

"Lindsay’s energy is much more like Regina — I don’t mean that in a negative way. She’s just much more forceful and a really strong personality. I remember reading the Regina scenes with her and she was amazing."

"But when we went to cast Cady, we couldn’t find anybody. I actually read an actress from Canada for the part, and I told her, 'You’re way too old for this part, but I think you’re a movie star, you’re amazing.' It was Rachel McAdams".

"When we couldn’t cast Cady, we went back to Rachel for Regina. And her reading a little bit older worked because it brought a certain power and maturity to it."

Lohan wasn't happy about the change role. Waters shared,  "She was a little bummed, she thought Regina was more fun".

"But she ended up embracing it. And Sherry Lansing pointed out that with Freaky Friday [being] such a big hit, she had to be the lead of the movie. It all worked out for the best."

"She did mention to Julia and I the other day that one of the biggest things she's had to learn in her career was how to say no and how to set boundaries for herself, especially because now she's a new mom. During an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2024, Banks was asked whether she would ever return for a third movie.

Banks responded, “I feel like we should do one."

"And I feel like I’ve been really looking at Lindsay [Lohan] and I feel like, what if she was a doll? What if she, in some kind of way, magically turned into a doll? And then my Eve character had to teach her how to be a doll. I feel like that could be very interesting.”

During an interview with The Sunday Times Style magazine, Lindsay Lohan revealed that she felt pigeonholed when she was younger.

Then she continued, "Even today I have to fight for stuff that is like that, which is frustrating".

"Because, well, you know me as this - but you also know I can do that. So let me! Give me the chance. I have to break that cycle and open doors to something else, leaving people no choice."

"I miss films that are stories, 'Like All About Eve or Breakfast At Tiffanys. There are not many major movies I want to go and see that are like that — there's a gap and I'm craving to do work like that."

Lindsay Lohan revealed that she had PTSD when she was younger. She shared, "I don’t ever want my family to experience being chased by the paparazzi the way I was. They were terrifying moments I had in my life — I have PTSD to the extreme from those things. The most invasive situations. Really scary. And I pray stuff like that never comes back. It’s not safe. It’s not fair".

Lohan also mentioned that she and her husband, Bader Shammas, regularly talk about how to best protect Luai’s privacy and decide how much media access they’re comfortable allowing.

Regarding fans coming up to her in public, she’d rather a fan just ask for a photo instead of secretly filming her with their phone. 

She explained, "That’s scary. That feels very uncomfortable. I’d rather someone just ask if they can take a photo, or else you get cautious of every move you make."

The video was posted on Instagram on August 1. In the video, both of them were arguing on who's fault for the body swap.

Kris (in character as Khloe) then said, "I did not switch bodies with you as a prank. And if I was going to prank you, I would put you in Scott [Disick]'s body."

Surprisingly, Jamie Lee made a cameo and said, "Mystical body swap?". Khloe (in character as Kris) then asked, "How did you know?". To which Jamie replied, "I get this a lot".
