Lindsay Lohan was charged by US government by promoting cryptocurrency tokens on social media. Lohan settle by paying penalties, amounting $10,000 and further $30,000 to US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
SEC chairman Gary Gensler tells that celebrities promoters failed to disclosed that they were paid to promote, "At the same time, Sun paid celebrities with millions of social media followers to tout the unregistered offerings, while specifically directing that they not disclose their compensation. This is the very conduct that the federal securities laws were designed to protect against regardless of the labels Sun and others used."
