During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Tyra said, “I feel like we should do one. And I feel like I’ve been really looking at Lindsay and I feel like, what if she was a doll? What if she, in some kind of way, magically turned into a doll? And then my Eve character had to teach her how to be a doll. I feel like that could be very interesting.” 

Then Drew’s News co-host Ross Mathews loves the idea and asked, “Well, you’re Tyra Banks, can you make that happen?”.

She said on Nightline, “Jamie [Lee Curtis] and I have stayed in touch over the years".

"You know how they say when you have a best friend or someone you’re really close with? If you can not see them for years and years, but when you see them again, it’s like you never separated".

“I think really for me was when I went onto the Disney lot. And being back on the Disney lot because that’s not just Freaky Friday for me. That’s The Parent Trap, that’s Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, that’s Herbie. It’s so many moments for me. So when I got there, I kind of felt like this essence of a little kid again".

The first Freak Friday was in 2003. The studio wrote on Instagram, "The Colemans are back and coming to theaters in 2025! The sequel to Freaky Friday is now in production!".

Nisha Ganatra will be the director. Apart from Lohan and Curtis come back, other actors such as Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray and Rosalind Chao will also reprise their roles.
